Data For Good: Open Journals @ Appalachian State University

Agnes Gambill, Head of Scholarly Communications and Assistant Professor at Appalachian State University,1 recently gave a talk at the 2021 Library Publishing Forum. This year the Forum took place remotely from May 10-14.

In her talk, given on May 13, Agnes discusses a new open journals program, the process of establishing two new (and open access) data journals on campus, and their decision to publish the journals on PubPub. We’ve enjoyed working with Agnes throughout this process and are happy to have her and Appalachian State University Library as a founding member of the Knowledge Futures Group’s program, Community Publishing for Libraries (CP4L). Their two new journals, Data & Analytics for Good and Bee XML are both now live on PubPub.

Watch this talk to learn more about the mission, goals, hurdles, and lessons Agnes and her team learned as they launched this new program and two open access journals!
